We are pleased to announce that a custom-built “no-roller-change” welded pipe production line—designed specifically for a client in Saudi Arabia—has been successfully installed and commissioned on-site. The system is now producing pipes that meet all the client’s technical standards, including precise forming accuracy, high-quality welding, and stable operational performance.
The Saudi pipe market is characterized by a diverse range of required specifications and flexible, small-batch orders. During initial consultations, the client highlighted a significant operational challenge: with traditional welded pipe production lines, switching between different pipe diameters requires the complete removal and replacement of the entire set of roll tooling. This process entails high procurement costs, the burden of maintaining extensive spare-part inventories, long changeover times, and a heavy reliance on the expertise of operators—all of which severely hinder production efficiency.
To address this core pain point, we proposed a production line featuring a “roller-share” forming process. Tailored to the client’s target diameter range, this system utilizes a single, universal set of rolls capable of producing pipes of various specifications. When switching to a different pipe size, there is no need to disassemble or replace the rollers; operators simply input the desired pipe diameter and wall thickness parameters into the control system. The machine then automatically adjusts the roller positions and aligns the forming passes. This enables rapid size changeovers, significantly reducing downtime, eliminating the need for a large inventory of spare rollers, and lowering long-term maintenance costs. It is a perfect fit for the client’s business model, which demands versatility, small-batch production, and frequent product switching.
