What is an ERW Pipe Mill?-ZTZG Tell You

Want to learn how ERW technology ensures high-quality manufacturing?

Explore the efficiency of ERW pipe mills today!

An ERW pipe mill manufactures high-quality pipes using advanced technology. It efficiently produces pipes by forming hot-rolled coils into cylindrical shapes and welding the seams. Explore the precision and reliability of ERW pipes for your industrial needs today.

The creation of a precision ERW pipe is a meticulously orchestrated process. Here’s how our advanced ERW pipe mills get the job done:
Uncoiling & Leveling: The journey begins with a large, hot-rolled steel coil. This coil is loaded onto an uncoiler and the steel strip is fed into a leveler to remove any coil-set and ensure it is perfectly flat for the forming process.
Shear and End Welding: To ensure continuous, uninterrupted production, the tail end of one coil is sheared and welded to the leading end of the next coil. This creates a single, endless strip of steel.
Forming Section: The flat strip then enters the forming section. Here, a series of precisely calibrated rollers gradually bend the strip into a circular, open-seam tube. Each roller stand plays a crucial role in shaping the tube to the exact required diameter.
High-Frequency Welding: This is the heart of the ERW process. A high-frequency induction coil or contact tips introduce a powerful electrical current into the edges of the open tube. The current rapidly heats the edges to the welding temperature (over 1200°C). Immediately, a set of squeeze rollers presses the molten edges together, forging them into a permanent, high-integrity seam.
Seam Treatment & Cooling: After welding, any excess material on the exterior and interior of the weld seam (known as flash) is removed by specialized cutting tools to ensure a smooth surface. The pipe then passes through a cooling section where it is sprayed with coolant to lower its temperature and stabilize its metallurgical structure.
Sizing & Straightening: The cooled pipe moves through a sizing section, where another set of rollers ensures the final outside diameter meets exact dimensional tolerances. A straightening machine then guarantees the pipe is perfectly straight.
NDT & Cutting: Finally, every inch of the weld seam is inspected in real-time by Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) equipment, such as an eddy current tester, to detect any potential flaws. Once cleared, a high-speed flying saw cuts the continuous pipe into pre-determined lengths without ever stopping the production line.
